The Role

The ideal background for the role includes extensive experience in the port operating business. An individual who is particularly strong at managing external stakeholders' relationships and relevant associations, with experience in providing strategic guidance and assistance to board and internal operations teams

One of the leading and long-standing port operating companies, a privately owned port, is handling containers and other port services on an international level

Description

  • Develop and maintain external relationships/partnerships with officials’ other stakeholders: MPA (Myanmar Port Authority), Customs, Department of Marine Administration, Myanmar International Freight Forwarders Association, Myanmar Trucking Association, Myanmar Clearance Agents Association, UMFCCI and other logistics-related organizations

  • Provide strategic guidance and assistance to board and internal operations teams

  • Coordinate community and government outreach programs (lead events around religious and cultural holidays)

  • Follow and gain knowledge of government legislation related to the transportation industry to draft memorandums, policy reports, and position letters, develop public and stakeholder outreach campaigns, and plan elected official advocacy strategies.

  • Manage external negotiations with officials, including ongoing communications on behalf of the company to represent the brand in official meetings

  • Support planning and execution of the company events relating to the organization announcements, project milestones, etc.

Requirements

  • At least 10 to 15 years of working experience, including 5 – 8 years of management experience in a port operating business or similar business nature

  • Strong writing, research, oral communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with Port Authority and customs staff at all levels as well as external stakeholders and elected officials

  • Demonstrated experience successfully establishing working relationships and finding opportunities to enhance relations with internal and external stakeholders

  • A self – starter, able to work independently, organize work, and prioritize multiple assignments within established deadlines to keep projects moving while managing dynamic challenges and issues

  • Understand the complexities of project development and implementation knowing when it is necessary to lead and/or work as a supportive member of the team

  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills and a high degree of political acumen to execute tasks diplomatically and successfully
