Commercial Head at Growing Solar Business in Yangon, Myanmar

  • Responsible to manage the growth of overall solar business

  • Up to 8,000,000 MMK per Month

The Role

The ideal candidate's background for the role comes with strong hands-on experience in managing commercial functions of solar business, good experience in developing B2B, B2G projects and understanding of technical aspect.

Our client is considered as one of the largest conglomerates with 16 subsidiaries, offering expertise in agriculture, construction, solar power, trading, manufacturing and heavy machineries.

Description

  • You will be responsible for leading and managing all commercial aspects of the solar energy division within a large conglomerate. This includes strategy development, pricing, contract negotiations, partnerships, and revenue optimization. You will play a pivotal role in driving business growth, ensuring profitability, and aligning commercial strategies with the overall vision of the renewable energy portfolio

  • You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Business Development, Project Execution, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless execution of commercial strategies across utility-scale, rooftop, and distributed solar projects

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with business goals and market dynamics

  • Lead pricing strategy, bid management, and financial modeling for solar projects

  • Identify and evaluate new revenue streams, business models, and market opportunities

  • Oversee contract structuring and negotiations with clients, vendors, EPC contractors, and financiers

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, risk mitigation, and favorable commercial terms

  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with developers, technology providers, and government agencies

  • Drive joint ventures, co-development agreements, and strategic alliances to expand market reach

  • Monitor P&L performance, cost structures, and commercial KPIs

  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and margin optimization

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, policy changes, and competitor activities

  • Provide insights to guide strategic decisions and maintain competitive advantage

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing commercial team

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align on business objectives and execution plans

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical Power, Engineering would be highly advantageous but mandatory

  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in business development, commercial function of solar energy, renewable or electrical power industry

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills

  • MS Office applications (eg. MS Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Good Communication and Interpersonal skills

  • Able to work individually while being a good team player

  • Strong English proficiency is ideal

  • Positive attitude with the ability to work under pressure
