The Role
Lead and manage the legal and government relations function, overseeing legal matters, regulatory compliance, government affairs, licensing, contracts, and stakeholder relationships to support the organization’s business operations and strategic objectives.

Description
- Develop and implement legal and government relations strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the organization’s business objectives
- Provide legal advice and guidance to management on business operations, regulatory matters, contracts, and potential legal risks
- Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and government policies that may impact the organization’s retail operations
- Ensure compliance with applicable Myanmar laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and government procedures
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and other relevant external stakeholders
- Manage government permits, licenses, registrations, and approvals required for business operations
- Prepare legal, regulatory, and government relations reports for senior management and provide recommendations on key matters
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, or a related field; a professional legal qualification is an advantage
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in legal, compliance, government relations, or corporate affairs, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position
- Strong knowledge of Myanmar laws, regulations, licensing requirements, corporate legal matters, and government procedures
- Strong experience in contract management, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and government relations
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders
- Good command of English and Burmese, with strong verbal and written communication skills
