Government Relations Manager at a Petroleum Company in Yangon, Myanmar.

The Role

The role involves managing strategic relationships with government stakeholders, ensuring compliance with petroleum industry regulations, and supporting advocacy efforts to shape favorable policy outcomes.

About the Company

Our client is a leading petroleum company engaged in the exploration, refining, distribution, and marketing of petroleum products.

Description

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national government officials and regulatory authorities
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the petroleum industry (e.g., fuel pricing, environmental regulations, licensing)
  • Represent the company in government meetings, public consultations, hearings, and industry forums
  • Work closely with internal departments (legal, compliance, operations) to ensure adherence to government regulations and policies
  • Prepare briefing materials, position papers, and official correspondence for government stakeholders
  • Advocate for the company’s interests regarding permits, licenses, infrastructure approvals, and environmental clearances
  • Coordinate with public affairs, legal, and compliance teams on all government-related strategies and issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Law, Public Policy, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, regulatory affairs, or a related field
  • Proven experience working within or closely with government agencies or regulatory bodies, preferably in the oil & gas or energy sector
  • Prior experience in oil & gas, energy, or industrial/manufacturing sectors is highly desirable
  • Deep understanding of petroleum industry regulations, licensing processes, and environmental laws
  • Familiarity with government decision-making structures and legislative processes
